I wouldn't say that you were bad to me. I wouldn't say that I was good for you, and yeah, I still believe there was something trying to get set free. We were beating our wings against the walls; I never, I never ever knew that you could act so big when you felt so small.
We'd never seen the cardinal before, scared red, trying to get ahead of the storm. When I opened the door: there's something trying to get set free. We were beating our wings against the walls; I never, I never ever knew that you could act so big when you felt so small.
I've been trying to break through for so long. You've been lying awake.
Take her back, the cardinal in the tree. True love, you give and don't receive, give and don't receive. Was something trying to get set free? We were beating our wings against the walls; I never, I never ever knew that you could act so big when you felt so small.
I've been trying to break through for so long. You've been lying awake.

There is a lot to hear here and unsurprisingly it's a mixed bag, but Passing Strange's stunning arrangement of "Tourniquet" blows me away. They make it sound like it was ALWAYS a piano ballad, and their contribution was to rock it up with lively drums. summer villain
Released in 2001, “The Convincer” is a gentle gem in the Nick Lowe catalog; an anniversary edition provides opportunity for rediscovery. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 20, 2021
